The business was established to convert fresh farm produce into recognized consumable products that have been packaged into standard units for the society. The primary product of Obinwugo Farms Nigeria is Zobo cola which is an improved variety of the popular Zobo drink which is locally produced and consumed in all parts of Nigeria. Obinwugo Farms has developed a unique product from the traditional zobo product and packaged it for sales and consumption.

 

Zobo is a very popular local drink in Nigeria. It is easy to produce and has several varieties produced mostly by women to augment their income. In some cases, other people produce the drink in commercial quantities, flavoring it with fruits and artificial flavors and sweeteners and bottling it with washed pre-used PET bottles from water and soft drink producers. The drink is sold almost everywhere and is widely distributed. However, the taste of these locally produce drinks differ per producer and sometimes the same producer produces the drink at two different times with different tastes, therefore lacking in consistency. Furthermore, the drinks come in unsealed pre-used PET bottles which do not guarantee the integrity of the product.

 

Zobo cola is an improved and standardized variant of this popular zobo drink product of the hibiscus flower. The flower is harvested, dried and taken through a particular process that precipitates the nutrients and value in the plant into a liquid medium. The drink is then sweetened and flavored with the cola flavor to give it its unique and distinctive taste. The process is carefully monitored and managed to ensure hygiene and safety of the drink. Zobo Cola was created and developed by Mr. Emeka Stanley Obinwugo, a budding industrialist who has successfully generated sufficient resources to raise and drive the development of the company and its products. This has developed the capacity of the company from zero to a point where it produces more than twenty thousands (20,000) cases of Zobo cola on a monthly basis. Zobo cola is authentically the alternative beverage in the markets where it exists and is considered a healthy product thus garnering patronage by health conscious consumers.
